What LegalZoom charges

Ours, for comparison: a flat $75 service fee plus your state's filing fee at cost, with no markup and no convenience charge. Many states charge nothing at all to dissolve an LLC. The state fee lookup shows your exact state figure before you start.

When LegalZoom is the better pick

If your entity is already delinquent, LegalZoom's $799 tier is doing something we genuinely do not. Several states will not accept a dissolution until the missing annual reports are filed and the franchise tax is settled, and that tier puts one person on the whole sequence, including the catch-up filings, with phone access throughout. That is worth real money to an owner with three years of unfiled reports and no appetite for figuring out the order. They are also the better fit if you want a lawyer attached to the closing, which we cannot offer, and their published accuracy guarantee covers re-filing at no cost when a rejection is their error. Where we are different is narrow: for a clean entity that just needs the filing made, the work is the same and the fee is $54 lower at their cheapest tier.

Common questions

How much does LegalZoom charge to dissolve an LLC?

Their dissolution page lists three tiers: Standard at $129, Rush at $239, and a full-service Business Dissolution Manager at $799. All three are quoted plus state filing fees, so your state's charge is added to whichever tier you pick. Prices read from their page on August 20, 2026; check their current page before ordering, since prices change without notice.

Is $75 versus $129 the whole difference?

For the filing itself, close to it. Both services prepare your state's dissolution form, file it with the right agency, and pass the state fee through at cost. The difference is what sits around the filing: LegalZoom sells rush handling, a managed tier for delinquent entities, and legal services. We sell one filing at one price and nothing else.

Which is faster?

Neither controls the part that takes longest. We submit within 3-5 business days of your order; after that the state's own queue decides, and that ranges from same-day in Florida and Colorado to several weeks elsewhere. LegalZoom does not publish a processing time for its standard tier, and its rush tier is a promise about returning the filed document, not about state speed.

Does either service file my final tax returns?

No. Neither dissolution package includes federal or state tax returns, and neither closes your IRS business account. Those are separate steps you or your accountant handle after the entity is dissolved. Our guides on the final return and on closing the EIN account set out exactly what to file and when.

What if my LLC is behind on annual reports?

Many states will reject a dissolution until the delinquent reports are filed and any franchise tax is paid. We check for that, tell you what your state wants, and refund in full if we cannot file. We do not file the back reports. LegalZoom's $799 tier does, which is the honest reason to pick them over us in that situation.

Do I need to create an account to order?

No. You give the business name, formation state, entity type and an authorised signer, pay once, and track the order with an order number and email. Nothing renews, and we never ask for a Social Security number.
